Where Treetops Glisten| Book Review & More

Today I would like to share with you a book review that I wrote and posted on my book review blog. I chose to read Where Treetops Glisten because it was written in part by Tricia Goyer, our guest speaker for The Cherished Table. As I share this with you, we have confirmed 108 guests for our ministry dinner. We (your ministry team) believe that all in attendance will be blessed by the message that God will bring to us through this gifted Christian author.

My Review

Where Treetops Glisten kindles warm feelings of nostalgia in the hearts of readers. Journey down memory lane to a time when pleasures were simple and courtship was virtuous. Linger in the warm feeling of patriotism, but be prepared to grieve over the ravages of war. The trio of Tricia Goyer, Cara Putman, and Sarah Sundin author this World War II romance in perfect harmony.

The Turner family hails from Lafayette, Indiana in the heart of the Midwest. Like most families of the early to mid-1940’s they are seeking “normal” as the nation fights it’s second Great War. Where Treetops Glisten takes a look into the lives of three Turner siblings: college student Abigail, big brother and  Army pilot Pete, and nurse Meredith. While their lives intertwine their struggles are different and each must learn…

God is Everywhere

Written by: Amanda Geaney

God showed me something today.

When we decided to pull our children from one school and move them to a new one it was a difficult decision. I wanted to homeschool or put our children in a Christian school, but my husband wanted the children to go to the school that we are zoned for. I prayed about this decision, made a surprise visit to shadow two classrooms, and then prayed more. We moved our children to (omitted with love) Elementary the first day following Spring Break 2014.

EVERY day the children and I pray for the staff and students while driving to school in the minivan.

Today I was blessed when I entered the school to take the children their lunches. On the wall in the hallway is a display that reads “Words of Wisdom.” On it students from one class have shared the best advice that they have ever received. Here are a few:

In that moment, I felt God reminding me that He is everywhere. He is not just in our homes or in Christian schools – He is everywhere. He is in the hearts of our children and the educators who trust in Him. He also reminded me that He is with my children, even when I cannot be. It’s like he was saying, “Don’t worry Mom, I got this.”

God knows the desires of our hearts. He loves us and our children with a perfect and unfailing love. Don’t worry mom, He’s got this!
